Free-Cut COB LED Strip FAQ
1. What is a free-cut COB LED strip?
A free-cut COB LED strip is designed with a special circuit structure that allows the strip to be cut much more freely than conventional LED strips, making it easier to achieve precise installation lengths.
2. Can the COB strip really be cut anywhere?
Yes. It can be cut between LED chips without following traditional fixed cutting intervals. However, avoid cutting directly through LED chips or other electronic components.
3. Will the remaining strip still work after cutting?
Yes. The remaining section continues to operate normally when properly connected to the correct power supply.
4. What is the immersion tin process?
Immersion tin applies a thin tin layer over the conductive copper surface. It provides good solderability, helps protect the copper surface from oxidation, and makes on-site soldering easier.
5. What is the difference between immersion tin and brass versions?
The main difference is the conductive surface and connection method. The immersion tin version has a tin-finished surface that is generally easier to solder, while the brass version uses an exposed brass conductive structure and may require more attention to surface condition during soldering.
6. Which is better, immersion tin or brass?
Both can be used for free-cut COB strips. Immersion tin is recommended when easier soldering and better long-term solderability are priorities. The final electrical performance also depends on PCB design, conductor thickness, power, and strip length.
7. Does free cutting affect brightness?
No, when the strip is cut and powered correctly, normal cutting does not significantly affect the brightness or uniform COB lighting effect.
8. Where are free-cut COB strips commonly used?
They are ideal for cabinets, furniture, shelves, display cases, linear profiles, and customized lighting projects where precise lengths are required.
