Narrow Width COB LED Strip – FAQ
1. What is a narrow width COB LED strip?
A narrow width COB LED strip uses high-density LED chips mounted on an ultra-slim flexible PCB. It provides a continuous, dot-free lighting effect while fitting into very limited installation spaces.
2. What PCB widths are available?
Common narrow PCB widths include 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm, depending on the LED strip type and electrical design. Customized widths may also be available for special projects.
3. Where are narrow COB LED strips commonly used?
They are ideal for furniture, cabinets, shelves, showcases, architectural details, signage and compact aluminum profiles where installation space is limited.
4. Does the narrow PCB affect brightness?
A narrower PCB does not necessarily mean low brightness. By optimizing chip density, PCB design and power consumption, narrow COB strips can still provide excellent and uniform light output.
5. Is the light completely dot-free?
COB technology uses a high density of LED chips with continuous phosphor coating, creating a much smoother lighting surface with significantly reduced visible light spots.
6. Can the strip be cut to custom lengths?
Yes. Different models offer different cutting lengths. Short-cut and free-cut versions can also be developed for applications requiring more precise installation lengths.
7. What color temperatures are available?
Standard options typically include 2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 5000K and 6000K. Special CCTs and tighter color consistency can be customized upon request.
8. Is high CRI available?
Yes. CRI 90+ is commonly available, and CRI 95+ options can also be provided for projects requiring better color rendering.
9. Can narrow COB strips be waterproof?
Yes. Depending on the application, different waterproof solutions can be provided. However, waterproof treatment may increase the overall width and thickness, so the installation space should be checked in advance.
10. Does a narrow COB strip require an aluminum profile?
For low-power applications, it may not always be necessary. For higher-power or long-term installations, proper heat dissipation is recommended to improve LED lifetime and maintain stable performance.
11. Can narrow COB strips bend easily?
Yes. The slim flexible PCB provides excellent flexibility, making the strip suitable for narrow spaces and curved installations. Excessive twisting or bending below the recommended radius should still be avoided.
12. Can you customize narrow COB LED strips?
